25/08/1875 - 10/02/1940John Buchan, 1st Baron Tweedsmuir, was a Scottish novelist and Unionist politician who served as Governor General of Canada. He wrote adventure novels, most famously 'The Thirty-Nine Steps', which is known for being an early example of the 'man-on-the-run' thriller. Aside from writing, he had a prolific political and diplomatic career.Northern Ireland
