21/02/1876 - 25/01/1938Zitkála-Šá, also known by the name Gertrude Simmons Bonnin, was a Yankton Dakota writer, editor, translator, musician, educator, and political activist. She wrote several pieces of literature that highlighted her struggle with cultural identity crisis and contradictions in American society. Zitkála-Šá was one of the most influential Native American activists of the 20th century.
