Upton Sinclair

19/09/1878 - 24/11/1968Upton Sinclair was a famous American writer known particularly for his novel 'The Jungle' which exposed conditions in the U.S. meat packing industry, leading to public outcry and ultimately to the passage of the Pure Food and Drug Act. He wrote nearly 100 books in many genres and was a prominent social activist.
