Francis Watkins Harper
23/09/1825 - 21/02/1911Francis Watkins Harper was an African-American abolitionist, suffragist, poet, teacher, public speaker, and writer. She was one of the first African American women to be published in the United States. Born free in Baltimore, Maryland, she had a long and prolific career, publishing her first book of poetry at 20, and her widely praised 'Iola Leroy' at age 67.Shtetet e Bashkuara
