Slavomir Rawicz

31/08/1915 - 04/04/2004Slavomir Rawicz was a Polish Army lieutenant who was imprisoned by the Soviet Union during the World War II. He is most well-known for his memoir, 'The Long Walk', which alleges that he and a group of others escaped from a Siberian Gulag and walked over 6500 km through the Gobi Desert, Tibet, and the Himalayas to British India.
